These terms govern your use of Spill It!, a macOS voice dictation application made by Spill It!. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms.

What Spill It! Is

Spill It! is a macOS application that transcribes your voice to text entirely on your device. No audio or transcription data is ever sent to our servers or anyone else's. The app uses on-device machine learning models to do all processing locally.

Your License

When you use Spill It!, you get a personal, non-transferable license to use the software on your Mac.

• Free tier: Unlimited offline transcription. No word limit. No time limit. Never expires.
• Paid tiers: Unlocks AI polish (cloud-based text enhancement). AI polish requires your own API key from a supported provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Cerebras, etc.) — the paid license unlocks the feature, but the AI provider's usage costs are separate and paid directly to them. Direct-download licenses are tied to a Paddle order; Mac App Store purchases are tied to your Apple Account.

You may install and use the app on your personal machines. You may not share or transfer your paid license to another person.

What You May Not Do

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app or its bundled models
• Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the software
• Use the app to build a competing voice dictation product
• Remove or alter any copyright or license notices

Payments

Direct-download payments are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. Purchases in the Mac App Store build are processed exclusively by Apple In-App Purchase. Paddle or Apple handles the applicable billing and payment data; we never receive your card details. Direct purchasers also agree to Paddle's terms, and App Store purchasers are subject to Apple's applicable media services terms.

Updates

• One-time purchase: Includes all feature updates for one year from your purchase date. Bug fixes and security patches are included for as long as we maintain the app.
• Annual subscription: Includes all updates while your subscription is active. If you cancel, you keep AI polish access until the end of your billing period. Offline transcription continues working forever.

Disclaimer

Spill It! is provided as-is. Transcription accuracy depends on your microphone, accent, ambient noise, and the speech model in use. We're not liable for transcription errors or any consequences of relying on transcribed text.

We make no guarantees of uptime for model download servers, though we'll do our best to keep them available.

Termination

We can suspend or terminate paid access if you misuse the software (e.g., violating the license terms above). The free tier will continue to work regardless. If we terminate a paid license without cause, we'll refund the unused portion.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If changes are material, we'll note it in the app's release notes. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated terms.
